The mission of the Vanceburg Health Department is to make Lewis County a safer and healthier place to live and work.
In April 1958, H.M Bertram,Sr., Flossie Bertram, Elwood Esham and Ruth Esham sold a piece of property to the county of Lewis in Kentucky for $3,000. This property was purchased to build the first Lewis County Health Department that was located near Town Branch Road and the easterly way of Kentucky Highway 59. The building of the health department was established to ensure our community members received crucial health services needed as well as environmental services needed to keep our community healthy.
In 2006, with the help of grant funding and monies from the local health tax dollars, the new building was built. Ralph Jordan and his team to helped develop a building big enough to service the different elements of health services and environmental services we provide today. The new health department is located at 185 Commercial Drive Vanceburg, KY 41179.
We take pride in providing efficient, effective and personalized services to individuals based on their unique needs. Because we serve the public, we hope to provide affordable and helpful services. We strive to provide knowledgeable and passionate staff who are empathic and promote resources and quality care.
